In 1998 Chris joined the SThree Group as a recruitment consultant specialising in the Mainframe & AS/400 market. He achieved billings of £1m gross profit in the first 18 months (becoming the fastest person in the group to hit this milestone), won the accolade of being the group’s top billing consultant for three consecutive years and personally contributed in excess of £3.5m gross profit whilst building and leading teams to an additional £6m profit across this sector. Chris went on to set up and lead the Public Services Sector for Sthree, building it up to the most profitable business stream for the group.
After 6 years with Sthree, Chris believed he had the experience and passion to build his own company and wanted to create an environment with the autonomy and entrepreneurial opportunities he desired. He set up Timothy James Consulting, a Senior Appointments consultancy, in Bristol, in October 2003. Chris’ vision for the business was to grow the company organically, rewarding employees for their hard work and commitment. With this in mind, he developed an excellent commission structure, a consistent training programme and a portfolio of rewardarding incentives for his colleagues.
In May 2010 Chris opened the London office to support TJC's headquarters in Bristol. Having since outgrown its premises three times it is now located in the prestigious Mayfair area whilst a third location in Manchester's Central Business District was established in October 2011.
Under Chris’ leadership, the company has received industry recognition; listed 5th and 12th on The Sunday Times’ Best Companies to Work for, 3rd Best Small Company to work for in the UK and 32nd Best Small Company to work for in Europe by Great Place to Work. In addition to this, Timothy James Consulting was named the 2nd fasted growing recruitment agency in 2012 on the Recruiter’s Fast 50 list, Recruiter's 2012 Hot 100 and won the Virgin Fasttrack award for three consecutive years in a row.
